Pepa Bueno,
was born in Badajoz in 1963 and holds a degree in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid. She began her career in the news services of Radio Nacional de España in Extremadura and later became the head of news at RNE in Aragón and Madrid. In 1991, she joined Televisión Española (TVE) to direct the regional news program, first in Andalusia and then in Madrid. In September 1996, she was appointed deputy director of the current affairs program Gente.
Eight years later, she took charge of Los Desayunos de TVE, balancing this role with various participations in other programs on the network. In 2009, she assumed the direction and presentation of the second edition of Telediario on TVE, receiving several awards for her work. In 2012, she moved to Cadena SER to direct Hoy por Hoy, where she maintained audience leadership throughout her tenure. In 2019, she was named director of the nighttime news program Hora 25; during this time, she also collaborated on programs for Telecinco and Cuatro, complementing her television and radio work with numerous contributions to the press.
Since August 2021, she has served as the director of EL PAÍS. Throughout her career, Pepa Bueno has received multiple awards and accolades, including the Micrófono de Oro, the Media Tenor Award for Best News Program in the World, the Ondas Award, the Francisco Cerecedo Journalism Award, the Salvador de Madariaga European Journalism Award, the Manu Leguineche International Journalism Award, and the Agustín Merello Award from the Cádiz Press Association.
