Luz Gómez García , is a renowned Arabist and professor in the Department of Arab and Islamic Studies at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Her academic and professional career focuses on the study of contemporary Arab thought, political Islam, and the social and cultural dynamics within the Arab world. Born in Madrid in 1967, Gómez García has conducted notable research, publishing numerous articles and books that address Arab modernity and intellectual movements in Muslim-majority countries.

Among her most important works is Diccionario de islam e islamismo, a reference text for understanding the complexities of the contemporary Islamic world. Her work extends beyond the academic realm; she has also collaborated with media outlets and participated in public debates, providing critical analyses on the evolution of political Islam and its global societal impact. In addition, she was awarded the National Translation Prize in 2017 for her contributions to translating key works of contemporary Arabic literature.
