Arancha González Laya

7_ARANCHA_GONZALEZ

Arancha González Laya is the third Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) at Sciences Po and the first woman to lead this institution, recognized as the third-best school in the world for politics and international studies.

Before joining PSIA, she served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain (2020-2021). She was also Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (2013-2020). Between 2005 and 2013, she worked as Chief of Staff to the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Pascal Lamy, and held senior positions at the European Commission focused on international trade and development. Additionally, she was a member of the European Commission’s Trade Advisory Council, advising on foreign trade policies. Her professional career began in the private sector as a lawyer.

Since 2017, she has been a member of PSIA's Strategic Committee, contributing to the school's direction and growth. Arancha González holds a law degree from the University of Navarra and a postgraduate degree in European Law from Carlos III University of Madrid. Throughout her career, she has been a key advocate for human rights, fair trade, and multilateralism, standing out as a leader in international diplomacy and the promotion of sustainable development.
