Arancha González Laya is the third Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) at Sciences Po and the first woman to lead this institution, recognized as the third-best school in the world for politics and international studies.
Before joining PSIA, she served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain (2020-2021). She was also Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (2013-2020). Between 2005 and 2013, she worked as Chief of Staff to the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Pascal Lamy, and held senior positions at the European Commission focused on international trade and development. Additionally, she was a member of the European Commission’s Trade Advisory Council, advising on foreign trade policies.
Her professional career began in the private sector as a lawyer.
Since 2017, she has been a member of PSIA's Strategic Committee, contributing to the school's direction and growth.
Arancha González holds a law degree from the University of Navarra and a postgraduate degree in European Law from Carlos III University of Madrid. Throughout her career, she has been a key advocate for human rights, fair trade, and multilateralism, standing out as a leader in international diplomacy and the promotion of sustainable development.
