Nadia Calviño has been president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) since January 2024 and is the first woman to hold this position. An economist and lawyer, she has a career spanning more than three decades in economic policy, finance, and public administration. 

Before joining the EIB, she served as First Vice President of the Spanish Government and Minister of Economy, Trade, and Business. Prior to that, she had an extensive career at the European Commission, where she held various senior positions, including Director-General for Budgets.
