Governor of the Bank of Spain
José Luis Escrivá has been the Governor of the Bank of Spain since September 2024. He is an economist at the Bank of Spain, worked in the Department of Monetary and Financial Studies and headed up the Monetary and Financial Research Division.
He served as adviser to the European Monetary Institute, the forerunner of the European Central Bank, and as Head of the Monetary Policy Division at the ECB. During his time working in central banking, he also held the position of Americas Director at the Bank for International Settlements in Basel.
