Josep Oliu is the Chairman of Banco Sabadell. He served as Head of Studies and Strategy at the Spanish National Institute of Industry (Instituto Nacional de Industria - INI) in 1983 and as Planning General Manager at the INI between 1984 and 1986.  

In 1986, he joined Banco Sabadell as Technical Secretary General, and, in 1991, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer. In 1999, he became Chairman of Banco Sabadell. Under his leadership, the bank has majorly expanded and has been consolidated significantly within the Spanish financial system.
