María Corina Machado is a Venezuelan political leader and former Member of the National Assembly. She is the co-founder of Súmate and founder of the Vente Venezuela party. She was a Member of the National Assembly from 2011 to 2014, winning the highest number of votes out of any candidate in those elections.  

In October 2014, she was honoured by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems for her fight for democracy in Venezuela. Despite being barred from running for election, she emerged as the most supported figure in the opposition primaries of 2023. In 2025, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize
