Former President of the Inter-American Dialogue
Michael Shifter was the President of the Inter-American Dialogue, where he currently serves as senior fellow. Since 1993, Shifter has been an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, where he teaches Latin American politics.
He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Latin American Studies Association (Asociación de Estudios Latinoamericanos), and a contributing editor of Current History. He has published widely in international media and has advised governments, multilateral organisations and foundations on governance and democracy issues in Latin America.
