Jon Finer is a distinguished expert in US foreign policy and national security. The former US deputy national security adviser began his career as a correspondent for The Washington Post, covering conflicts such as the Iraq War.  

From 2021 to 2025, he served as Principal Deputy National Security Adviser to President Joe Biden, spearheading the White House strategy at critical junctures on foreign policy. He previously held other key positions, including Chief of Staff and Director of Policy Planning at the Department of State under John Kerry, as well as special adviser for the Middle East and North Africa at the White House.
