Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Government of Spain
José Manuel Albares has been Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Government of Spain since July 2021. He has served as Spain’s Ambassador to the French Republic and as Secretary General for International Affairs, in the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office.
As a career diplomat since 2000, he has held various senior positions at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid, as well as postings in Colombia, France and Spain’s Permanent Representation to the OECD.
