Alicia Romero has been the Minister of Economy and Finance of the Government of Catalonia since 2024.  

She served on the City Council of Mataró between 1999 and 2011, with a range of different responsibilities (youth, equality, sports and economic development). In later years, she was the President of the TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme Foundation (Fundación TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme), manager of the area’s science park (2007-2011), and the Secretary of the Board of Directors and of the Board of Trustees of CETEMMSA (2007-2011), as well as of the Port of Mataró Consortium (2007-11). In 2011, she began a new phase in her professional career, at organisations such as the GlobaLleida consortium and Premià de Mar Town Hall, undertaking work involving a range of partnerships in university teaching and consultancy.
