Jaume Collboni is the Mayor of Barcelona, a position which he has held since June 2023. In 1996, he helped to drive forward the creation of the Technical Office of the UGT Catalunya trade union and was a member of its National Executive from 1998 to 2005.  

In 2011, he was appointed Secretary for Communication and spokesperson for the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC), as well as a Member of the Parliament of Catalonia. In 2014, he won the PSC primaries to become the party’s candidate for Mayor of Barcelona. In May 2016, he served as Second Deputy Mayor. Following the municipal elections of May 2019, and until January 2023, he was First Deputy Mayor for the area of Economy, Labour, Competitiveness and Finance.
